Paint protection film — the basics
What is paint protection film (PPF)?
PPF is a clear, durable urethane film applied over your vehicle's paint to shield it from rock chips, scratches, road rash, bug acids and the elements. It's virtually invisible once installed and preserves the factory finish underneath. You'll also hear it called a 'clear bra.'
Read the full guide: Paint Protection Film ExplainedHow does PPF actually protect my paint?
The film takes the abuse so your paint doesn't. Its thick urethane layer absorbs and deflects impacts from rocks, sand and debris that would otherwise chip or scratch your clear coat, and it resists staining from bugs, bird droppings and road grime. Your paint stays sealed and factory-fresh underneath.
What is 'self-healing' film?
The premium films we install have a self-healing topcoat. Light swirls and fine scratches in the film disappear with heat — from the sun, warm water or a heat gun — as the topcoat reflows back to smooth. It keeps the film looking new far longer than untreated film.
Is PPF really invisible once it's installed?
Yes. Quality film is optically clear, and because we hand-cut and tuck the edges, there are no visible film lines on a proper install. Most people can't tell a car is wrapped in PPF unless they know exactly where to look — it simply looks like deep, clean paint.
Does PPF come in different finishes?
It does. Beyond standard gloss (clear) film, we offer satin/matte PPF that gives glossy paint a stealth look while protecting it, plus specialty films. Tell us the finish you're after and we'll recommend the right film for your vehicle.
Will PPF change the color or look of my paint?
Gloss PPF is clear and actually deepens the shine slightly while protecting it — it won't change your color. Satin film intentionally converts a glossy finish to matte. Either way the result is uniform and factory-clean because of how the film is cut and tucked.
Coverage options & packages
What parts of my car should I protect with PPF?
The highest-value areas are the ones that take the most road impact: the full hood, fenders, front bumper, mirrors and headlights — the leading edge of the car. From there you can go as far as full-body coverage. We'll walk your vehicle with you and recommend coverage based on how and where you drive.
Read the full guide: PPF Coverage Options ExplainedWhat's included in a full front PPF package?
Our full front covers the entire hood, both full fenders, the front bumper, headlights and side mirrors — edge-to-edge protection across every panel that sees debris first. It's our most popular package because it shields the areas most likely to chip while staying invisible.
What is a partial front or track package?
A partial front protects the most vulnerable leading sections — like the bumper, a portion of the hood and fenders, and the mirrors — for chip protection at a lower price point. A track package adds coverage geared toward high-speed driving, where rock and debris impact is more aggressive.
What does full-body PPF cover?
Full-body PPF wraps every painted exterior panel — hood, fenders, doors, bumpers, quarter panels, roof and mirrors — in self-healing film. It's the ultimate protection plan, ideal for exotics, EVs, collector cars and anyone who wants their entire finish preserved.
Can I customize exactly which panels get covered?
Absolutely. Our custom coverage lets you protect any combination of panels you want, hand-cut to your exact specs — from a chip-prone hood lip to full quarter panels. If you have a coverage plan in mind, we'll build a tailored quote around it.
Do you wrap the edges so the film isn't visible?
Yes. Wherever the panel allows, we wrap and tuck the film around the edges so there are no exposed lines and the protection is seamless. Hand-cutting and edge-tucking is the difference between a clean, invisible install and an obvious one — and it's something we never cut corners on.
The installation process
Where do you install PPF?
Every install is done in our dedicated, climate-controlled bay in State College. PPF needs a clean, dust-free, temperature-controlled environment to bond and cure properly — it's not something that can be done well outdoors or in a driveway.
How long does a PPF installation take?
It depends on coverage. A partial or full front is typically about a day, while full-body coverage can take several days. PPF is precise, hands-on work — each panel is cut, fitted, tucked and given time to set — so we never rush it. We'll give you a clear timeline when you book.
Do you correct the paint before installing PPF?
When needed, yes. Because the film is clear, any swirls, scratches or contamination underneath would be sealed in and magnified. We inspect the paint first and recommend paint correction beforehand if it'll improve the result, so the finish under the film is as clean as possible.
Read the full guide: Paint Correction Before PPFCan I get PPF on a brand-new car?
Yes, and it's the ideal time. A new finish is the cleanest it will ever be, so adding film before daily driving locks in that factory-fresh paint before the first rock chip. Even new cars often have light swirls from transport that we can address first.
Does my car need to be clean before the install?
We do a thorough prep wash and decontamination as part of every install, so you don't need to detail it beforehand — just drop it off. If your vehicle has heavy buildup, road tar or needs correction, let us know so we can plan the time.
Can PPF be installed over an existing wrap or old film?
PPF needs to go onto a clean, sound surface — your factory paint or a healthy existing finish. Old, lifting or yellowed film should be removed first, and we'll assess any aftermarket wrap or repaint to make sure the new film bonds and removes safely. We'll tell you exactly what your vehicle needs.
Durability, warranty & care
How long does PPF last?
Quality paint protection film typically lasts around 7 to 10 years depending on the film, your climate and how the car is cared for. The self-healing topcoat helps it look new for years, and our installs are backed by a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
Read the full guide: How Long Does PPF LastDoes PPF come with a warranty?
Yes. The premium films we install carry a 10-year manufacturer warranty against yellowing, cracking, bubbling and lifting. Because we're a certified installer, your film is applied to manufacturer standard — which is what keeps that warranty valid.
When can I wash my car after a new PPF install?
We recommend waiting about a week before washing so the film and adhesive fully set. You may notice slight haze or small water bubbles under fresh film at first — that's normal and clears as it cures. We'll give you exact aftercare instructions when you pick up.
How do I care for my car after PPF?
Wash by hand with a gentle, pH-neutral soap, avoid blasting the edges up close with a pressure washer, and remove bird droppings or bug splatter promptly. PPF is low-maintenance and washes like normal paint — adding a ceramic coating on top makes it even easier to keep clean.
Read the full guide: How to Care for Paint Protection FilmWill PPF yellow or turn cloudy over time?
Modern self-healing films are engineered to resist UV yellowing and stay clear for the life of the film — and that's specifically covered by the 10-year warranty. Older or cheap films could yellow; the premium film we install is built not to.
Can PPF be removed without damaging my paint?
Yes. On healthy factory paint, film is removed cleanly with heat and careful peeling, leaving the original finish protected and intact underneath — one reason PPF is great for leased cars and resale. Aftermarket repaints or already-failing paint are the exception, which we'll always flag beforehand.
Pricing & value
How much does PPF cost?
Price depends on how much of the car you cover and the vehicle's size and shape. Partial and full fronts start in the lower range, while full-body coverage on a large or complex vehicle is a bigger investment. We give you an exact, itemized quote up front — no surprises.
Read the full guide: How Much Does PPF CostWhy does PPF cost more than a ceramic coating?
PPF is a thick, physical film that's hand-cut and individually fitted to each panel — far more material and labor than a liquid coating. It's also the only product that physically stops rock chips and scratches. You're paying for real impact protection and skilled installation, not just a glossy finish.
Is PPF worth it?
If you care about keeping your paint chip-free and protecting resale value, yes. A single repaint from rock-chip damage can cost more than a front-end PPF package, and film keeps your finish looking new for years. It's protection that pays for itself, especially on new, leased or higher-value vehicles.
Read the full guide: Is PPF Worth ItWhat affects the price of a PPF job?
Mainly the amount of coverage (partial front vs. full body), your vehicle's size and panel complexity, the film you choose, and whether paint correction is needed first. Larger trucks, SUVs and exotics take more film and time. We confirm everything in your quote before any work starts.
Do you offer different packages or financing?
Yes — we offer set packages from partial fronts up to full-body coverage, plus fully custom coverage, so there's an option for most budgets. Reach out for a quote and we'll lay out the choices, and ask us about current options for spreading out the cost.

We do. Gift cards can be applied to any of our services, from a front-end PPF package to ceramic coating or tint — a popular gift for new-car owners and enthusiasts. Reach out or visit our site to purchase one.
PPF vs ceramic, vinyl & alternatives
PPF vs ceramic coating — what's the difference?
PPF is a thick physical film that absorbs impacts and stops rock chips and scratches. A ceramic coating is a thin, liquid-applied layer that adds gloss, makes the car easier to clean and protects against UV and chemical staining — but it won't stop a rock chip. They solve different problems.
Read the full guide: PPF vs Ceramic CoatingShould I get PPF or ceramic coating?
If your priority is preventing chips and scratches, you want PPF. If you mainly want gloss, water-beading and easier washing, ceramic coating delivers that affordably. Many customers do both — see the next question.
Can I get PPF and ceramic coating together?
Yes, and it's the best of both worlds. We protect the high-impact areas (or the full body) with PPF, then apply a ceramic coating over everything — film included. You get physical chip protection plus the slick, easy-clean, high-gloss finish of ceramic across the whole car.
PPF vs a vinyl wrap — what's the difference?
Vinyl wraps are about appearance — color changes and custom looks — and offer minimal impact protection. PPF is about protection: it's thicker, self-healing and built to take road abuse, in a clear or subtle satin finish. If you want a bold color change we offer vinyl too; if you want to protect your paint, that's PPF.
Does PPF really stop rock chips and scratches?
Yes — that's exactly what it's designed for. The urethane film absorbs and deflects the rock, sand and debris impacts that chip paint, and its self-healing topcoat shrugs off light scratches and swirls. It's the most effective protection available against everyday road damage.
Will PPF protect against door dings, rust or hail?
PPF is built for road-debris impact, scratches and staining — not heavy impacts like door dings or hail, and it doesn't address existing rust. It will, however, protect the painted surface it covers from the chips and abrasions that can lead to corrosion over time. For paint-level protection, it's unmatched.
Vehicle types & specific situations
Do you install PPF on trucks and SUVs?
Yes. Trucks, lifted trucks, full-size SUVs and vans are great PPF candidates — their large hoods and front ends take a lot of highway debris. Larger vehicles need more film and time, which we account for in your quote.
Do you do PPF on EVs and Teslas?
Definitely. EVs including Teslas are some of the most common vehicles we protect — their soft factory paint chips easily, so front-end and full-body PPF are popular. We take the usual care around sensors, cameras and charging ports.
Do you protect exotic or collector cars?
Yes, with extra care. Exotics and collector cars are exactly what full-body PPF was made for — preserving delicate or valuable finishes without altering the look. We tailor our approach to original and specialty paint and treat these vehicles with the caution they deserve.
Can you PPF a leased car?
Yes — it's a smart move. PPF keeps a leased vehicle's paint in like-new condition and removes cleanly at turn-in, helping you avoid chip and scratch charges. Just plan the install early in the lease so the paint is protected for the whole term.
I just bought a new car — when should I get PPF?
As soon as possible. The sooner film goes on, the more of that untouched factory paint you preserve before the first rock chip. We can often correct minor transport swirls first, then protect it so it stays new for years.
Do you protect anything besides cars?
We focus on automotive PPF and protection, but reach out with your project — if it has paint worth protecting, we'll let you know what we can do. We also handle ceramic coating, window tint and vinyl across a range of vehicles.
